Lenora Pousland was born 1999 in Jericho, Vermont. She studied classical oil painting from 2008 to 2018 with Elizabeth Locke, and pursued a BA in painting at Paris College of Art in Paris, France from 2019 to 2021. Since 2021 the artist has lived and worked in Austin, Texas where she is represented by Primal Gallery and Karmic Coyote Productions. She has participated in multiple group exhibitions and art fairs, and produced her first solo show in February 2024.

Ranging from oil painting and drawing to installation and video art, Lenora’s practice explores the human condition and inner conflict, and our relationship to the world around us. She is best known for her expressive and gestural style of painting, most prominent in her large scale portraits made of flowing brushstrokes and bright colors.

Lenora draws inspiration from both classical portraiture and the spontaneity of abstract expressionism. This fusion manifests in her paintings through a captivating interplay of form and emotion. Her process-driven approach to artmaking is a testament to her belief in the transformative nature of creation. Each stroke, each layer of paint contributes to a narrative that unfolds organically on the canvas. The tactile quality of her work, with its rich textures and multidimensional surfaces, invites viewers to engage with the paintings on a visceral level, fostering a profound connection between artist and audience.
